Do Health Practitioners Need Social Media to Launch a Digital Health Program?

No matter what your craft is in the health world, YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN LEVERAGE YOUR PRACTICE WITH DIGITAL PRODUCTS. Building an online presence and growing your audience is essential for health practitioners, clinicians and private practice owners looking to expand their reach and impact from their current practice.

And, that’s why we teach what we teach here at The Leveraged Practice. That’s why we have courses and programs to support you in building your digital assets and marketing them. We help with online education. We LOVE helping clinicians and professionals with building their online programs, group programs, high touch hybrid programs, group community programs, memberships courses and self-study programs.

I often work with health professionals and private practice owners who excel at their clinical expertise, but struggle with the entrepreneurial side of their business. It can feel overwhelming to suddenly become a marketer, a salesperson, and a logistics expert all at once. However, the truth is, developing an online presence and growing your audience is necessary for making a bigger impact on the world.

Do you need to like social media? Do you need to be online? No.

There are so many ways to bring traffic, eyeballs or humans into your world. What you do need is a marketing plan to increase your visibility, and get more, and more, and more people into your world, every day, who get to learn, know and trust you.

It could be through Facebook ads, it could be SEO, it could be collaborations, referrals, affiliates, speaking engagements, and webinars. The point is, you have options. You have the power to choose how you want to expand your online presence and grow your audience, your community, the people that are coming into your world and getting to know you.

So, let’s embark on this exciting journey together and discover how you can leverage your practice through the power of the internet. How you can create digital health products and programs that require less of you, adding more work-life balance and freedom. Tell me that doesn’t sound dreamy?

Expanding Your Online Visibility for Your Health Practice

As health professionals, practitioners, clinicians and private practice owners,
we often focus on our clinical skills, but running a practice involves wearing the hat of an entrepreneur, we need to develop our marketing skills and audience, as well.

Your audience is the key to your success, and it’s important to understand how to grow it effectively. Whether it’s through referrals, online listings, or content creation, the first step is to make sure people know who you are.

By increasing your visibility and consistently bringing new people into your world, you’ll have more clients and opportunities to make an impact and difference. And, we can all agree, we chose our jobs to positively change lives, the more lives, the better.

Online programs, courses, eBooks, and group offerings are all valuable products to have in your portfolio of services. By diversifying your offerings, you can reach a wider audience and provide alternative options for those who may not be interested in one-on-one sessions.

Okay, so you don’t necessarily need a strong online presence to be successful with online programs. I’ve had clients launch a Facebook group of 300 people, and sell out twice, in their 1st launch. Two cohorts of 25 people. So, they got 50 people in their first program.

I had a client who sold out, if my memory is correct, 82 spots in her 1st program, without any online presence. Just by advertising the program to people in different groups, and on different email lists, where she could advertise, leveraging other communities and other lists.

Choosing ONE Marketing Platform for Your Growth

With numerous marketing platforms available, it can be overwhelming to decide where to focus your efforts. Whether it’s social media, blogging, podcasting, or collaborations, pick a channel that aligns with your strengths and interests.
Consistency is key, as it helps build trust and loyalty among your audience.

My strategy when it comes to growing your online presence:

  • You need to pick ONE
  • One marketing channel to start with
  • And commit to it

If you choose social media, decide on a platform like Instagram, LinkedIn, or Facebook, and develop a strategic plan for content creation. If you prefer blogging, because I know many of you like to write and blog (especially my beautiful introverts out there!), aim to publish one to two times a week and focus on SEO to improve your rankings and attract more traffic to your website.

How do we grow our audiences?
How do we get new people into our world, every single day, every single week, every single month?
How do we funnel more people in?

Well, like I said, pick one channel, understand that channel, and be consistent with it. So if you’re on Instagram, then you show up on Instagram. Learn how people engage and create content. Learn from an Instagram expert. Maybe join a membership. Maybe take a course. Start to master Instagram.

By staying consistent with your chosen platform, having a strategic marketing plan, establishing a regular posting schedule, and choosing a platform that aligns best with your goals and values, you can effectively grow your visibility to grow your audience. And, in the future you can choose to hire and outsource.

Collabs, Referrals Affiliates for the Health Field

In addition to online marketing channels: collaborations, referrals and affiliates can play a significant role in growing your audience.
By making partnerships to grow your business, partnering with other professionals in your field, speaking on stages, or appearing on other podcasts, you can tap into new networks and expand your reach.

Referrals from colleagues, physicians, clinicians, and satisfied clients are also powerful in bringing new clients through the door. Word of mouth recommendations and positive experiences can lead to a steady stream of new clients and opportunities for your health practice and online presence. When I started in 2011, I built my own website, and I blogged, not well, but I did it.  And I shared recipes. Back then, I grew my clients and patients through my referrals.

Webinars and speaking engagements are effective tools for growing your audience and establishing yourself as an expert in your field. By sharing your knowledge and expertise through presentations, you can connect with individuals who may be interested in your services or online programs.

Webinars allow you to showcase your skills and provide value to a larger audience, while speaking engagements provide opportunities to reach new people and build your authority. Incorporating these strategies into your marketing plan are powerful tactics, and can significantly contribute to growing your online presence and success.

Keep in mind that as you grow your audience, you will need to house them somewhere. Which brings me to a question I hear often, ‘Do I need to have an email list?. Absolutely. You want to be able to have conversations with your new audience. You want to be able to nurture those relationships by sending them emails, so they can get to know you and then make a decision if they want to work with you.

The Impact of Launching Online Programs

Can you launch online programs even without an extensive online presence? Yes.
Can you still make an impact in the world? Yes.
Can you still change lives? Absolutely.

No matter what your craft is in the medical or health profession, online programs are advantageous:

  1. Not everyone wants or needs face-to-face sessions
  2. Or learn about the health concerns that you help them with face-to-face
  3. Many individuals prefer the flexibility and accessibility of digital products
  4. Remote learning can cater to individuals who prefer group programs or self-study options

By offering online programs, digital products, courses, or group memberships, you provide opportunities to make a difference to change lives on a larger scale. The Leveraged Practice is dedicated to helping clinicians and private practice owners develop these digital products, allowing them to make a lasting impact in the world.

Please know that You. Absolutely. Can. Do. This. And, you don’t have to do it perfectly. You. Can. Be. Successful. Imperfectly.

As we wrap up, I want you to remember that your online presence is just one piece of the puzzle. With the right strategies and a commitment to your audience, you can launch successful digital programs and expand your impact.
